Anyone run on concrete, or do you stick to asphalt and trails? I'm bored with every route I can find, and there are some good "multi-use" trails around I haven't tried, but I'm hesitant because they are concrete. When I used to have shin splints it made them worse, but I haven't had that problem in a long time.
My fiance insists that I not try it and hurt anything, but I am itching for something new!!

Mon, June 23, 2008 - 6:18 PMNo, don't do it. Especially if there are any hills (and we know there are!). Stick to trails or (last resort) asphalt, and not just because of shin splints. Over time, your knees and ankles will start to talk to you, too. If you're a member of the local running club, I bet they can tell you about some new trails you've never tried.
